Open doors on fire prevention

Looking for something fun and free to do with the family this weekend? The LaSalle Fire Department is organizing an open house on fire prevention. The LaSalle firefighters will welcome the public to discover the fire trucks and learn about fire safety through fun and interactive activities for all ages. The doors of the barracks will be open on Friday October 14 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday October 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Parking is not available on site, please park at the LaSalle Civic Center and walk to the LaSalle Fire Department at 1900 Normandy Street. For more information, visit the LaSalle Fire Department website or call the fire station at 519-966-0744.

Truck or treat event

Another fun event is in the works at the Vollmer Complex. The annual Truck or Treat event takes place on Saturday, October 29 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission fees are $2.00 per child (cash only). This year’s event is in partnership with the Windsor-Essex County Humane Society to raise funds for animal support and welfare.

Families are encouraged to dress up for Halloween and get out to see the many vehicles and trucks while collecting candy along the way. Sparky and the LaSalle firefighters will also be on hand at the event to collect new, unboxed toys for families in need for the holidays and throughout the year. For more information about the event, visit the Truck or Treat webpage.
