KRG Media and Information Department and UNFPA Partner to Support Women and Youth [EN/AR/KU] – Iraq

April 4, 2022, Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq – The Department of Media and Information (DMI) of the Kurdistan Regional Government on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Population Fund ( UNFPA) to promote the end of violence and youth participation in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

The newly established partnership will enable DMI and UNFPA to raise awareness on gender-based violence prevention and response, women’s rights, and promote healthy and informed choices for young people across the Kurdistan region.

The event was also attended by the head of the KRG’s external relations department, Safeen Dizayee.

DMI and UNFPA will jointly conduct advocacy campaigns and support the dissemination of data and people-centered interventions.

The MoU further outlines a plan for collaboration between the two parties, including joint interventions and activities.
