3. Information: National Academies Non-Domestic Rates (NNDR) historical claims for unclaimed years

This message is addressed to all academies connected with the NNDR.

Academies can submit historical claims for previously unclaimed years. This applies to fiscal years 2017 to 2018 through 2021 to 2022, which have not been claimed.

Complaints can be submitted on the NNDR service of the academies

Applications can be submitted until January 31, 2023.

Under no circumstances will ESFA accept claims for previously unclaimed years after this deadline.

4. Information: National Academies Non-Domestic Rates (NNDR) new applications for 2022 to 2023

This post is for academies that have opted out of the new NNDR process – you can check if you still need to submit your own NNDR application.

Academies that remain under the current NNDR provisions because their billing authority has decided not to implement the new payment process for April 2022, must submit new applications for 2022 to 2023 by January 31, 2023.

Complaints can be submitted on the NNDR service of the academies.

Under no circumstances will ESFA accept new complaints after this period.

5. Information: Academies National Non-Domestic Rate (NNDR) Adjustments to Past Claims

This message is addressed to all academies connected with the NNDR.

All academies and trusts can adjust previously paid NNDR claims for 2017 to 2018 to 2021 to 2022 using the academy NNDR service.

Applications can be submitted until January 31, 2023.

Under no circumstances will ESFA accept requests for adjustments after this time.

6. Information: student bonus allocations for 2022 to 2023

We have published the updated pupil bonus allocations for the second quarter of fiscal year 2022 to 2023.

seven. Information: Energy Bill Relief Program

We would like to remind schools and trusts that they do not have to do anything to be eligible for the energy bill relief program, as the rebate is automatic. Be aware that if a school receives a message asking for bank details or other information, it may be a scam and you should report it online.

We will continue to update our energy school buying advice with market and business position, as well as practical advice on terminating existing contracts and entering into new ones.

The Get Help Buying for Schools service will be able to provide support to schools changing schools and entering into new contracts. Schools may ask for advice and guidance for your online purchases.

8. Information: Are you considering purchasing catering or cleaning services for your school?

For some, the start of a new academic year means planning well in advance to purchase important services like catering and cleaning. You can use our Find a Framework tool to explore DfE-approved frameworks that offer restore and cleanup solutions.

In our latest Buying for Schools blog post, Megan Grimshaw, Procurement Project Delivery Manager at YPO, highlights YPO’s Buildings in Use framework, which includes both restoration and cleanup bundles, as well as that much more.
